Upon entering the city you will be asked to report directly to the Bureau of Census, located near the Trio Domes. At that time you will be asked to join a faction.
A group join is located at the census bureau. You will also get a starter pack of weapons, water, a gun and a Stilwater HUD.
The Grubbies are the lower class who live on the fringe of the city in broken down buildings. They are also well trained and have a desire like no other. All they need is some brains to match their Braun...
The Posh are the upper crust of the city, who live in the illuminated high rises in very modern buildings. They have access to clean water and electricity, but they are not very good at fighting. If only someone would come along as a leader to them.
When you decide on your faction, you can then attach a character backpack, on which your character name will be displayed. These names are generated at random with a different one for each player.
Think about what your character will wear. Grubbies obviously go for the basics in combat gear, jeans, torn shirts and ammo belts being standard. The Posh are dressed more appropriately for a night at the Stilwater Opera rather than a jaunt on the streets. Think gowns, super modern latex, and expensive Italian shoes...
On that subject, there are a few clothing and accessory stores located in the sim, for each faction. In addition, the NWG welcome shops have both a Tattoo Parlor and a Jewelry shop, as appropriate.
